TMJ, temporomandibular joint, is the medical term for our "jaw joint". This joint connects your lower teeth and jaw bone to the skull. This is located in front of our ear. And is protected by a cartilage that protects the TMJ from bone-to-bone grinding.

TMJ DYSFUNCTION - also known as TMD - is a medical condition where the teeth, jaw bone and facial muscles are unable to work harmoniously together causing an abnormal pattern on the chewing, breathing, swallowing or , in severe cases, limitations in the upper body to function normally.
While the exact cause of TMJ dysfunction can be challenging to pinpoint, there are several factors that may contribute to its development which is why it is important to seek the expertise of a specialist, who can evaluate your symptoms, perform a thorough examination, and provide appropriate diagnosis and treatment options tailored to your specific situation.

Not all clicking requires treatment. Treatment and pain management are for those that experience limitations in opening/closing their jaw or those who are experiencing myalgia (pain in group of muscles) originating from a bite imbalance.

At DBU Dental Care, we require a series of tests consisting of CT scans, dental x-rays, muscle and digital bite assessment to evaluate if the symptoms are caused by a bite imbalance.
You may schedule TMJ Health Screening service in our dental office. It is a 15-minute diagnostic procedure where we will evaluate the bite force and distribution using the latest TMJ equipment, muscle assessment and jaw function.

This TMJ Health Screening is recommend for all patients above 12 years old.
The results will be evaluated in minutes to know whether your bite is imbalanced. And if this imbalance can possibly cause problems in the future. The TMJ Health Screening costs around Php 3,500.00.
