Dr. Uy was diagnosed with ankylosing spondolytis, a type of arthritis that affects every joint in the body, during her teenage years. This posed when the condition affected her jaw joints (TMJ) that made it extremely difficult for her to eat.
Understanding how difficult the patient journey is of a TMJ patient, it became her advocacy to help those that are suffering from this condition.
She pursued studies at Metropolitan Hospital, specializing in the intersection of dentistry and medical fields - that focused on teeth, jaw joint, and musculoskeletal function. For the past 10 years she has curated a TMJ Pain Management Program that worked for her and many others.
